NFL Says “No Tweeting” for Players During Games

It truly is amazing to see how much an impact Twitter has made on our society.  I just read an article today saying that the NFL has created a policy banning tweeting from their players during the game!  To be honest I think this is quite comical that athletes that are getting paid millions of dollars would even think about updating their twitter during a game.  Although I do think there is a enough down time in football to allow an opportunity for players to send out a quick tweet while sitting on the sidelines.  All in all this new policy from the NFL does show the impact that this social networking trend has had on our country.  Unfortunately for people like Ocho Cinco, he will have to cut the Touchdown Tweet out of his bag of tricks.  Sucks for you Ocho.

However in other sports like ladies golf, they are actually encouraging their players to tweet during the course of a tournament.  Somehow women's golf has discovered with America's fascination to be up to date with professional athletes in game thoughts.  I am not too sure if this will help their ratings but I think it was worth a shot.

It is this type of stuff though that really does separate twitter from facebook and myspace.  All three of the them are able to be accessed through a mobile application but only one is breaking barriers down.  No other social networking tool allows you to be "apart" of the lives of these famous people the way Twitter does.  Even though we are all still pretty much strangers, we are one step closer to actually coming in contact with someone we look up to.  So whoever gets the job in the NFL that has to monitor the players tweets during a game, I envy you.  What a cake job! Anywho, let me know your thoughts on the subject.
