tweetmeme

I just came across an article today on the new fad of "re-tweeting".  Just when you think you have one trend figured out, a new one appears.  Re-Tweeting has gained so much popularity that there is actually a website that keeps track of all the most popular re-tweets.  The main catch here though is that people are re-tweeting popular articles in hope that it will gain popularity.  Not a bad idea.  Twitter has become a great way not only to network with people from around the globe but also shows great potential for marketing.  The website is called TweetMeMe and its really quite fascinating to see what the buzz is in the Twitter realm.  So if you are a big time writer or a small time blogger and want to get your name out there, start the new trend within your circle of friends of Re-Tweeting and see if you have what it takes to get your link on the top 10 front page of TweetMeMe!

Below I have posted from the TweetMeMe webpage a little more info on what this site is all about:

About:  Tweetmeme is a service which aggregates all the popular links on twitter to determine which links are popular. Tweetmeme is able to categorize these links into categories and subcategories, making it easy to filter out the noise to find what your interested in.

We make it easy for you to subscribe to each category and the most popular through aur RSS feeds and Twitter accounts, you can find out more about theses through our help.

Discover:  Using the TweetMeme button you can discover new content and tweet about it. The button provides a fully integrated URL shortener and the story or pages title. Each link which is posted on twitter adds one link to the link count on that story. Once the story has reached a critical mass of votes is makes it into the top 10 on the front page and gets tweeted by our Twitter account.

Share:  Each tweet on TweetMeme has a TweetMeme button which integrates both the current number of links that story has and also the ability to easily retweet the link. Giving you the ability to discover new media on tweetmeme.
