Twitcam is a website that allows you to stream live video straight from your computer. All you have to do is enter your Twitter account information and you are good to go! Next you send out through your twitter that you are broadcasting and those who are interested in what you have to say can connect directly to your page that you are broadcasting from and allow you can now openly dialogue with your through their twitter. This is a great way to allow users to connect with you on different topics that you are passionate about and will provide opportunity for you, the streamer, to expand your thoughts that a normal tweet would not allow.

I personally think this tool would be great for teachers, pastors, small group leaders, basically anyone who is interested in a Q & A time with anyone who is interested in digging deeper on a certain topic! Now days it's so hard to make it to small group because life can get busy. This is a great way to allow people to still connect even though they aren't physically there. Just pop open your Macbook, point it at the group and as discussion hits, they will be able to dialogue with the group! This tool is extremely similar to USTREAM but is a little bit more user friendly because if you already have a twitter account then there is no more set up involved! Just log in and go. So try it out and see if Twitcam is for you!

Where Do You Participate In Community

As of lately I have been talking a lot of about getting "connected" with others through Twitter and other avenues of networking. Now I want to hear from you about what communities that you are actively engaging in when it comes to connecting. I know for many of us, we are apart of many different multiple websites and what not, but what places to engage in conversation the most. Here are a few places that I participate in conversation:

Twitter- this is probably one of my main, on-line communities that I participate in. I am slowly beginning to branch out and connect with new people through this social-networking tool more and more on a daily basis.

Facebook- through this site is where I maintain more "intimate" relationships that I have with close friends and family. I do my best to stay in touch with dear friends that live all over the U.S. and be a source of encouragement and friendship to them.

Bloggeries- this is a site that is new to me and is basically a place where fellow bloggers come to bounce ideas off each other and help out in technological ways when it comes to learning how to be more efficient in the blog world.

Open Door Fellowship- this is a place that is not on-line. This is where my wife and I go to learn more about who we are in Him and to grow in community with fellow, like minded people.

Mosaic- this is a place where I stay connected with fellow family in friends while out in California. Mosaic is a community of faith, hope, and love. If you live in Cali I strongly suggest you check it out!

So once again I encourage people to stay connected through different social media techniques, be don't neglect to connect with the people that are around you in your daily life! Twitter will never be able to provide the type of gratification and fulfillment that you will find in a healthy community of people. For those of you though that are afraid to get out of your comfort zone and connect with others, at least try to attempt to dialogue with people through facebook and twitter. Stop "quoting" the conversation and start participating! Hopefully when its all said and done, you will be a better person for it!

Now there are thousands of different communities around the world that people are apart of. Let us know which ones you are apart and why. Tell us the sites or places and let us know your names within those sites.

Content vs. Twitter Jabber

What makes a tweet worth reading? Naturally when it comes to the introductory world of twitter, we gravitate to our friends and for the most part, enjoy reading their tweets. After a while though, reading day to day tweets begin to get old. Eventually, the desire for some content starts to take place. And now that twitter is evolving from mundane, day to day tweets, to articles of substance through re-tweeting, we have an opportunity to stay connected to friends along with hot media topics that are taking place around the world. This is what started to separate twitter from the rest of the bunch. The ability to gather information is starting to become a new trend on twitter. So how do we advance past the normal day to day tweeters?

Find some interesting people to follow! There are millions on twitter now days and there is a large majority who are using the site to relay information that is useful! There is a website called Twitalyzer that actually ranks peoples influence along with a few other categories. Find some people on twitter and start following them. Be advised though, your friends who vaguely tweet will begin to get lost in the mix due to their lack of participation. In the end though, it can be worth it. You will start to come across articles that are exciting to read and could be quite useful for yourself as well.

So take some time every now and then to follow a few new people each day that share the same interests as you. You might actually make a friend in the process. This will also help your ability to spread meaningful content to more people. So many people attempt to tweet profound thoughts but have no followers to read those great thoughts. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. So engage with some new people each day. Community, whether on line or in person doesn't come without action on your part!

*disclaimer- this does not mean that I think we shouldn't tweet about our day to day stuff. That is what makes us unique in the world of twitter. So continue to be authentic. Maybe just attempt to push through some meaningful content that will make us all better people!

Twitter Fox

So I have found a great Twitter widget for those of you out there that are looking for easier ways to keep up on the latest Tweets while on your destop.  If you are a lot like my friends, then you probably enjoy using the browser Fire Fox.  If that is the case then twitter fox is for you.  Twitter fox is a plugin that you install directly into your Fire Fox browser.  Once this is installed you can log into your Twitter client.  After this has taken place you will see a small little Twitter logo on the bottom right hand corner of your browser.

Picture 5

As you can see on the picture to your left, you have the Twitter logo along with the number 34.  The number 34 stands for the number of new tweets that I have.  The next step is to click the Twitter button to have your twitter browser appear.

Picture 1

As you can see below, a window will appear right there on your browser with all your latest tweets.

The big perk about this plug-in, is that it is right there on your browser no matter which page you surf.  Unlike TweetDeck or Seesmic desktop, you have to continue toggle back and forth between those clients in order to see what's taking place on your Twitter.  Although those desktop apps give you more options to do on your twitter, they are not as convenient as this plug-in.  So if you are a Fire Fox fan like many of my friends, check out the app and let me know what you think of it!

For those of you who are extremely serious about blogging and own a blackberry, you are in luck!  Today while I was reading on Crackberry.com, they posted a new blog on the fresh new Wordpress app that was just released!  Being a blogger myself I decided to download the app.  So far so good.  I have yet to actually post a blog from my phone, but I will try it out sometime soon!  For people that already own an iPhone, this app has been out for a while.

I think the new Wordpress app for Blackberry will pay off at those times when you have some free time to kill and you are tired of playing Brickbreaker on your phone!  For all the crackberry users out there you know what I am talking about.  So for those who have already downloaded the app and put it to good use, let me me know what you think of it.  And for those of you who would like a little bit more detail about Blackberry's new Wordpress app, check out this link.
